$4,500 for self-only coverage and $9,000 for family coverage, plus a $1,000 catch-up if you are 55 or older. The IRS announced these in Rev. Proc. 2026-24 on May 29, 2026.
Not announced yet. The IRS usually releases next year’s 401(k) and IRA limits in early November; the 2026 limits came out on November 13, 2025. For 2026 the limit is $24,500, plus $8,000 in catch-up contributions at 50 or older. We’ll update this page the day the 2027 numbers are out.
On October 14, 2026, together with the 2027 cost-of-living adjustment. For 2026, Social Security tax applies to the first $184,500 of wages.
You can plan with the 2026 limits and adjust in January. Many plans let you set a percentage that automatically keeps working as limits rise. If you are close to the maximum, check again once the 2027 limits are official so you don’t miss the extra room.
